Championing Children's Rights & Holistic Development in Kenya

The idea was conceived in the year 2011 when Child Survival Centre hosted an East African Orphan Summit for the first time. There was need to form a Network of likeminded Organizations that would steer the country to begin to practice Alternative Family Care for Children. CSC then reached out to Organizations especially the ones that attended the conference to take the conversation to the next level.

In 2013, the Organizations pulled a big CHILD ADOPTION CONFERENCE in Hilton Hotel which was an eye opener. It gave us the energy to push for the Organizations to come together for there were several problems that could only to be addressed substantially by a different Organization other than the current players in the Child Protection circle.

In 2016, the initiative was launched at Brackenhurst, Limuru and the members present elected an interim office which was to steer the registration. It finally got registered in October 2017 with the Registrar of Societies as a Non-Profit Organization.

In 2017, Alternative Children Care Alliance was finally founded and registered as a consortium of over 20 Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) working on child protection with an aim of working together to make Kenya one of the best and safest places in the Africa region for children as envisioned in the International treaties, the Kenyan Constitution and UNCRC provisions on Children Rights.

These are the Organizations that formed the Board to take it further, Child Survival Centre, Buckner Kenya, and Little Angels Network, Feed the Children, Compassion International and Girl Child Network.

HIGHLIGHS

ACCA adopted EMATSULI SUNRISE ACADEMY in the year 2020 when Covid-19 disrupted everything in our lifestyles.

When the scourge went down, they slowly resumed school but the numbers were not encouraging and that is what struck us in a school of the less fortunate community that is struggling to make ends meet and at the same time take children to school. Our efforts with that of Calvary Global Kids have yielded fruits and right now we can see 74 students in school at any given time. Some still skip due to lack of food and other domestic challenges which we are addressing at their levels.

◯ Any support for this education center ranging from Tuition Fees, Feeding program, building of classrooms and many more, can be so helpful. Education is the big Key for the future of this upcoming generation.
